It’s official; Matt Willis is the new King of the Jungle and long may he reign! Can I just say…I told you so! I told you so! I told you so! Last night we saw Matt go head-to-head with Myleene Klass for the coveted title of King or Queen of the Jungle, but in the end, the night belonged to the former Busted man. Unlike me, Matt was totally surprised about the win. As I correctly predicted in yesterday’s blog entry: Jason Donovan finished third, Myleeene Klass second and Matt took the crown. Speaking to Ant and Dec he said: "I don’t really understand. I didn’t do anything, I don’t get this…I had Jason, David and Myleene in the final three, so this is just weird."
I must admit, Matt was right when he said that he didn’t do anything. In comparison to some of the other celebrities, he didn’t come across at first; he wasn’t camp like Scott, he didn’t have the Kylie/Neighbours connection like Jason, he wasn’t a whinger like Jan, he wasn’t arrogant like Phina, he didn’t have David Gest’s mega-star friends or tall stories or weird face or bizarre hair…what he did have was a likeable personality that won everyone over in the end. Oh, and that final Bushtucker Trial. Anybody who is brave (or stupid) enough to eat kangaroo anus and crocodile penis deserves to be crowned King of the jungle.
Myleene Klass did very well to come in second place. She was a good all-rounder and a solid team player. I felt that she was just a little too sweet and sometimes a touch dull, which is probably why she lost out to Matt – despite all those bikini shots. However, Myleene has got a great career ahead of her modelling ladies underwear, so Girls Aloud star Sarah Harding had better watch out.
Jason Donovan also did extremely well coming in third place, but I wonder if he really thought that he was going to win and be crowned King of the Jungle? The great British public wouldn’t have it. It’s bad enough being hammered in the cricket, but allowing the most coveted of all prizes, being crowned Kng of the Jungle, to go overseas? You’ve got to be kidding! But saying all that, Donovan and his best mate David Gest, have been very entertaining. Let’s just hope that their friendship doesn’t blossom inside of one of David Gest’s recording studios. If it does, I’ll get Phina Oruche to sort them out.
Talking about Phina, I noticed that she didn’t hang around to pay homage to the new King of the Jungle. Was it her competitive streak that got the better of her, or was she trying to avoid Lauren Booth and Scott Henshall? Faith Brown also did a runner back home to England (her husband was the excuse….errr….reason), but I reckon she was either trying to avoid Lauren Booth or figured that she’d better get her five minutes of publicity in before the real stars of the jungle arrived back home.
I’m A Celebrity 2006 was one of the best since the glorious third with Jordan, Peter Andre, Johnny Rotten, Lord Brocket, Jennie Bond and Kerry Katona. They really got the right blend of celebrities for this series, which made for a cracking three weeks of jungle mayhem. I reckon next year’s wish list should include Jade Goody, Robert Allen (X Factor 2006), Frank Bruno, Mr T, Simon Cowell, Michael Jackson and Ozzy Osbourne among others. That would be an explosive cocktail of celebrities. Wouldn’t it be funny if David Gest managed to talk Michael Jackson into going into the jungle? Who knows it may even help to boost his flagging music career…In fact I’m off to talk to David about the idea right now.
Thanks for reading…until next year, I’m Kev Koala and I’m Out of Here!
