Will ITV Rescue ‘Celebs’ Fallen Angel?

Right, well I was going to start this piece with a silly jungle related quip (Holy Monkey Mucus Batman! That kind of thing) but what’s the point – I mean really…

If you visit this blog regularly, you know that it’s a hilarious and happy place to come and share all the gossip 24-7 about I’m A Celebrity (and no doubt you’ll be back in November when the show starts won’t you x) – But in the meantime we have a problem people!

It’s a black armband day and I’m posting out of season as I want your opinion on a subject most pressing, one of which where time is of the essence as it were… I’m waffling, but it builds suspense…

The point is, we have a fallen angel amongst us. A sad and sorry queen who’s lost her crown…. What do we do I’m A Celeb fans? Do we punish her further and kick her while she’s down or do we give her a chance, a chance to prove herself, a chance at redemption… ain’t no bathrooms of ‘powder’ in the jungle Kezza!

That’s right, it’s our Kerry…

Kerry Katona won I’m A Celebrity monumentally in 2004.

It was probably the show’s most emotional win, as with so many fantastic characters inhabiting the jungle that year Kerry was overwhelmed by massive public support. In victory she was both humble and thankful.

Following the show she scored a six figure deal with Iceland, she went on to act in movies and landed the title of Celebrity Mum of the Year 2004.

Kerry became a national treasure and regardless of the situation she finds herself in now, she speaks fondly of these times.

She told The Mirror, “When I won that show, I felt unbelievably loved, wanted, needed and supported. I felt people cared about me for the first time. It was the happiest moment in my life, apart from giving birth to my kids."

Shortly after, she split from Brian McFadden and to cope with the turmoil she admits she turned to drink and drugs. Kerry also developed bi-polar, a severe form of depression and blames her disorder, her history, her situation and the "freeloaders" who came along for the ride for her downward spiral. "I tried to forget the pain I was feeling."

Fortunately Kerry has continued to battle her demons and although she has fallen off the wagon on numerous occasions, she never stops fighting. She has visited both The Priory and Cottonwood in Arizona, and is now looking to the therapists who helped her with her weight to aid her recovery one final time.

She told The Mirror, “I’m not a drug addict. I don’t wake up and think I need drugs. But I know that I have to get some help to make sure I never take drugs again. I don’t want cocaine, I don’t need it and I’m never going to take it again. I have to show my kids a better way. I know many people must think I’m some crazed drug-addict, but I’m not, and some of the reports have been wildly exaggerated."

Kerry is adamant she is not an addict but after recent images of her snorting powder through a £20 note, I think that’s something she’s going to have to prove to the public as well as herself and she knows it…

Okay Kerry, so prove it!
Get back in the jungle girl and let’s see what you’ve got!

In years past the jungle has been home to alcoholics, addicts, slappers, bad boys, cads and philanderers to name but a few, but it’s never been a rehab for royalty. What a scoop! The queen returns!

The question is, would ITV book a previous winner? I don’t see why not – personally, I’d be interested in Kerry’s journey and I’d love nothing more than to blog it. Regardless of what’s happened in recent weeks, I happen to feel quite sorry for her. Do we really want her to lose everything? Are we animals? No.

Hasn’t this gone far enough?
We wrapped our arms around Kerry in 2004, can’t we do it again and bring her back from the brink? (Frankly a ruddy good hug would probably do her wonders!)

She’s even expressed an interest in returning to the jungle herself, but is unsure it would help. She told The Mirror, “I would love to go back in the jungle but I don’t know if it would do my career any good.” Frankly, I don’t think it can make things any worse and I wouldn’t be thinking about your career Kerry. Think of it as an escape, a chance to clear your head alone without influence and a place to be you again – that’s who we love.

What can I say? I like Kerry and I’m hoping she’s reached her ‘Westbrook Point’ – it’s onward and upward from here. Remember when ‘that’ image of Daniella Westbrook’s missing septum hit the papers, she had no choice but to step up and do something about it and she did – Daniella is right backup there now. Well I think the jungle could do the same for Kerry. This bathroom footage has been a real kick in the pants and with regards to her recovery, returning to camp would be like coming full circle – a fresh start. I also think it would be interesting to have someone in camp who’s done it all before too, I’d imagine she’d be a real comfort to the terrified newbs and there’s no question that they’d all have a lot to talk about.

In short, I’d love to see Kerry back in the jungle. I think that jungle life, the time away from home and the comradery of camp (combined with the detoxing diet) will do her the world of good. I just hope that ITV read this and see that people would like to cradle her, not crush her – I hope they give her a chance.
Then again, her main obstacle is the fact that the whole show is sponsored by Iceland and I’m guessing they’re not happy campers when it comes to Mrs Croft. She has apologised however and after taking full responsibility for her actions hopes that they will take her back when she’s sorted herself out…

Come on, in a world where Pete Doherty is still idolised, is Kerry really that bad? Especially when she’s holding her hands up…

The canopy awaits Kezza!
Let me show you to the bushtucker trial clearing…

Are you disgusted that I’m even contemplating this?
Or are you relieved that someone else is thinking it too?

Do you think Kerry should return to the jungle?
